Repsol Honda rider Marc Marquez is on the verge of two records belonging to Valentino Rossi. This incision will be achieved if Marquez is able to win again in the German MotoGP.
Rossi holds the record of seven consecutive wins on one circuit. The achievement was made by Rossi at Mugello when he won in 2002 to 2008
The other Rossi record was to score seven wins in the same grand prix. The Italian rider managed to do it in three series namely Italian MotoGP, Spanish MotoGP (2001-2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2016), and Catalunya MotoGP (2001-2002, 2004-2006, 2009, 2016)
On the other hand, Marquez is the King of the Sachsenring Circuit. Since promotion to the premier class in 2013, the Spanish rider won six straight wins, equaling Casey Stoner's record at Phillip Island and Mick Doohan at Mugello.
Marquez could actually match Rossi's winning streak earlier in the United States MotoGP earlier this season. However, Marquez, who bagged six consecutive wins in Austin, instead retired because of falling while leading the race.
Reflecting on the incident, Marquez did not want to laugh. "Everyone says I'm a favorite because I won in the past few years, but this sport is unpredictable and everyone says the same thing in Austin and I fell," he said recently.
"We will start by only thinking about weekends, like in every race."
